Joining a swim team can be very confusing. The following topics should be of some help to swimmers aand parents alike.

The Survival Guide

The basic items needed are a practice swimsuit and a pair of swimming goggles.  Going to a local sporting goods store such as Boyko's, is a good place to pick up these items.  First Coast Aquatics will have a "official" team suit available to order.  You can pick up swimsuits at various swim meets, also, do not be afraid to ask a fellow parent, they can be a great source of good tips.

Swimsuits and Goggles - do's and dont's

A competition swimsuit is designed to fit snugly in the front and back so that a swimmer can be as sleek as they can be. Buying a suit so that a swimmer can wear it for more than a year is not recommended.  Swimsuits that are too large will only drag and slow down your child during competition.

Goggles protect the eyes from chlorine and help your child see underwater.  There are many types and styles.  It is a matter of personal choice.  We do not recommend that you purchse cheap non-brand name goggles.  Try to purchase Speedo,Tyr, Nike, and Barracuda brands. The price should be less than .
